Ch. Chhabil Das Ji (1908-1978)

Ch Chhabil Das - the elder son-in-law of Lala Mukand Lal Ji (husband of Smt Sushila Devi), is remembered as pioneer of institutions of Knowledge and Service at Ghaziabad. He assisted Seth Mukand Lal Ji and Seth Jai Parkash Ji in the establishment and running of Mukand Lal institutions at Ghaziabad till his last breath. He was the founder Principal of National College, Lahore. He was a very hardworking noble person with a philanthropic soul. He devoted his life for the upliftment of the needy in order to emulate the life and ideals of his illustrious father-in-law.

He was a person with an enlightened thought process who was concerned about humanity and mankind above anything else. He performed the duty assigned to him with integrity & conviction. He passionately believed that the spread of education was the only way for the emancipation of the society at large. He fully understood that educational institutions had to be within the city itself. Since it was impossible for common man to afford education at distant places. Keeping this in view he helped in establishing Sushila Model School in 1947 at Ghaziabad, followed by Sushila Inter College in 1952, Seth Mukand Lal (VK) Inter College in 1954, VMLG Post Graduate College for Women in 1961.

Besides education, he was greatly concern about health care. He made very notable contribution in the field of health care by getting hospitals built for the welfare of the common man. He was a firm believer in goodness, values and ethos of all i.e. good and sacrosanct in indian culture and ethics.

He was very secular to the core of his heart. Religion was not a matter of narrow dogmas for him but a matter of enlightenment and divine happiness. His close associates came from all eligious backgrounds.

He continued to nurture, guide and manage all the institutions established by him, Seth Mukand Lal Ji & Seth Jai Parkash Ji throughout his life.
